BAYELSA QUEENS PIP DELTA QUEENS TO QUALIFY FOR SUPER FOUR

The match day fourteen between host Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa and visiting Delta Queens of Asaba in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) lived up to its billing as a top of the table clash inside the lovely turf of the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

The home team took the game to the visitors who were comfortable sitting back to defend and waiting for counter attack. With Charity Reuben deft touches on the right side of Bayelsa Queens attack and Adebisi Saheed dribbling skills on the left, the away team were on the back foot for the better part of half.

The introduction of Tessy Baihwo on resumption of the second half added some bite to the attack of Bayelsa Queens. But the game plan of Delta Queens was still on course particularly when in the 67th minutes when Iliviede Blessing was sent off for the conduct in an apparent retaliation on her opponent.

The best chance of the fell for Bokiri Joy in the 73rd minutes when the Bayelsa Queens striker had a one-on-one situation with the Delta Queens Goalkeeper but she shot tamely.

When the visitors thought it was mission to, Ayomide Anibaba shot a left footed volley from the edge of the box to broke the resistance of Delta Queens.

Disappointed Coach of Delta Queens, David Ochei stated that the plan was to get a draw but unfortunately, it was not to be. He however, promise to do better next season if still given the opportunity to handle the team.

On his part, Technical Adviser of Bayelsa Queens Aduku Moses said that he was grateful to God to have gotten this victory which has qualified them for the Super Four by topping the Group with 28 points and plus +9 goal difference ahead of Rivers Angels FC with 28 points and a plus +8 goal difference.
