Bayelsa retain top spot on official National Sports Festival table after day four
Bayelsa State stayed in first place on the medal table after day four of the 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, also known as the Gateway Games.
According to the official medal standings, Bayelsa has won a total of 27 medals, including 16 gold, six silver, and five bronze.
Delta State moved up to second place, winning 10 gold, five silver, and six bronze medals.
Osun State is in third place with six gold medals and one silver, while Rivers State is in fourth with five gold, three silver, and four bronze medals.
Lagos is in fifth place with four gold, seven silver, and 10 bronze medals.
Oyo State is in sixth place with four gold, two silver, and six bronze medals.
Akwa Ibom is in seventh place with four gold and one silver, while Plateau State is in eighth place with three gold, two silver, and six bronze medals.
Cross River, who were leading after day one, have dropped to ninth with three gold, one silver, and one bronze. Edo State rounds off the top ten with two gold, 15 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
Earlier, Lucky Joseph won three gold medals in weightlifting in the +109 class, boosting Bayelsa’s gold count. Samuel Mason and Kyogen Philip also won gold in men’s doubles.
Sanusi Abdulfathi earned a gold in Taekwondo, while Member Florence won silver. Peter Oyakemeagbegha secured gold in Kungfu Sanshou 56kg, continuing his strong performance.
