Bayelsa United pip Abia Comets

Bayelsa United yesterday beat Visitors Abia Comets by three goals to one in a match day one of The Nigeria National League (NNL) at the Samson Siasia stadium Yenagoa.

It was a game of two half with Bayelsa United dominating the first and Comets with second half.

Egbom Emmanuel headed home for the host in the 6th minute courtesy of Benjamin Nwoagu’s deflected shot Josiah Daniel doubles the lead for the restoration boys in the 24th minute through a beautiful connected pass from Benard Okorowanta, Benard Okorowanta again in the 26th minute of the game had the opportunity to make it three zero but fired wide.

In the 33rd minutes monami Lazadi sole move was caught off by Abia Comets Philip David which could have resulted to the third goal.

The second half resumes with Bayelsa United mounting pressure on the visitors but were unable to penetrate the defence line of the visitors.

Benjamin Nwoagu made it three five minutes after resumption when Egbom Emmanuel was rudely brought down thirty four metres away from the goalkeepers territorial zone.

Experience gaffer of Abia comets made three substitution that change the dynamics of the game Nelson Emmanuel for Ademola Raphael Abdulkareem Ade for Olalere Daniel while Monday Owen made away Okor Okoro five minutes later Okor Okoro reduced the scoreline to three one.

Coach Richard Bubugha instantly pulled off Benard Okorowanta for Okeke Uche in the 65th minutes of the game three minute Anthony Abaluwa was introduced for an attacking player Brendan Ogbu, Abaluwa Anthony introduction could have paid well for the restoration boys but his long range throw in was saved Abia comets shot stopper Somadina Onyemobi.

Attacking Sensation Philip Bob who was making his debut for Bayelsa United had a chance to make it four nil but fired blank in the 86th minute.

The Restoration Boys will next face Gateway Fc at the Abeokuta Township Stadium while Abia comets will battle Julius Atete at the Umuahia township Stadium.

After the game elated technical Adviser Bayelsa United Richard Bubugha expressed delight.

“I think it was a nice one my boys did very well they played to instruction that why we got it right, The team we played against as you can see they’ve an experience coach so they gave us a good fight”.

Disappointed coach Abia comets Bethel Orji was pleased with the result despite the defeat.

“Well it was a very nice game for both the home and away team that’s something that happens in football you played well and loss the game”.

He however stressed that Bayelsa United is a good side and wish them well in their quest to return to Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Also lending his voice Secretary of the club Sir Braveman Wodi expressed his satisfaction of the game.

“Well is a dream come true a day we been waiting for and it’s our aspiration that by the close of the season we should be in the premiership so is a welcoming event for we to win this game and also in a resounding manner”.
