Bayer Leverkusen Looking to Sell Victor Boniface in Summer
Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly keen to sell Victor Boniface in the summer transfer window, with Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, linked to the Nigeria international.
According to Sport Bild, the German club is asking for a base transfer fee of €50 million (around N83.7 billion) plus bonuses and reportedly do not want to start the 2025-2026 season with Boniface and Patrik Schick as their main forwards.
Earlier this year, Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr made a move for Boniface, sending a delegation to Germany and offering him a huge €15 million salary—five times what he currently earns. However, despite Bayer’s €70 million asking price, Al Nassr chose to sign 21-year-old Jhon Durán from Aston Villa instead.
At the start of the season, Boniface was a key player for Bayer Leverkusen, but an injury while on international duty with the Super Eagles allowed Schick to take his place in the starting lineup. With Schick in good form, Boniface has only made one start in 2025.
The 24-year-old has shown visible frustration, even having a public disagreement with teammate Emiliano Buendía. This has raised concerns within the club, as Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly unhappy with his open display of frustration.
Despite his limited playing time recently, Boniface has been included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
