Birmingham to retire Dortmund-bound Jude Bellingham jersey no 22
Birmingham have decided to retire the jersey number worn by their youngster Jude Bellingham who has signed for Borussia Dortmund.
The club confirmed on Thursday that the jersey no 22 worn by the teenage would be retired after he played his last game for the Blues.
“The Club have decided it would be fitting to retire this number, to remember one of our own and to inspire others.”
Jude Bellingham was just 16 years and 38 days old when he made his debut for Birmingham becoming the youngest player to feature for the first team in the club’s history.
He played a total of 44 games, scored 4 goals and assisted two goals during his breakout season.
The English midfielder who was subject of a big money move to Manchester United sealed a €23m five year deal to Borussia Dortmund.
And the youngster maintained that he signed for the German club so he could further develop his football.
“Dortmund is the best place for me to carry on my development and I am optimistic for the future.”
