Blessing Oborududu’s Gold medal dream dashes as she faces Paris Olympic games semi-final defeat

Blessing Oborududu’s quest for a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics took a hit as she lost in the semifinals of the women’s freestyle 68kg wrestling category.

Oborududu, the African champion, started her day strongly by defeating her Canadian opponent in the first round and later overcoming a French competitor in the quarterfinals.

However, she faced a tough challenge in the semifinals against Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova. Despite her efforts, Oborududu fell 3-1 on points to Zhumanazarova.

The Nigerian wrestler will now compete in the bronze medal match on Tuesday, aiming to secure a podium finish despite the setback in her gold medal pursuit.
