Brazillian legend Martha engages female teammate
Brazilian football icon Marta, a six-time FIFA Player of the Year, has announced her engagement to her Orlando Pride teammate, Carrie Lawrence.
The proposal, a key moment in their relationship, happened during a peaceful picnic. The couple, who have been together since 2022, shared their joy with the world through a series of intimate photos posted on Instagram.
Marta, often hailed as the greatest female footballer of all time, shared the news with her followers, while Lawrence added a heartfelt caption to one of the pictures, simply stating, “My forever.”
This engagement is a significant milestone for Marta, who was previously engaged to another Orlando Pride player, Toni Pressley. Despite the end of that relationship, Marta has found happiness and stability with Lawrence, a 27-year-old midfielder who joined the team in 2020, three years after Marta.
The couple celebrated their engagement surrounded by friends and loved ones, marking a joyful chapter in their lives.
Currently, Marta, 38, is enjoying a break after competing in the Paris Olympics, where she helped the Brazilian national team win a silver medal. Throughout the tournament, Lawrence was a constant source of support, even traveling to France to cheer on her fiancée.
