Bright Osayi-Samuel Joins Besiktas After Leaving Fenerbahce

Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has joined Turkish club Besiktas on a free transfer after his contract with Fenerbahce expired this summer.

The 27-year-old, who can play as a right-back or winger, agreed personal terms with Besiktas and will officially sign once he completes his medical in the coming days.

Osayi-Samuel had offers from several Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, and Southampton. Turkish champions Galatasaray were also interested, but he chose to remain in the Super Lig.

Reports say Besiktas offered him a deal worth €2.5 million per year, along with a €1 million signing bonus.

Last season, Osayi-Samuel played 25 league matches for Fenerbahce, starting 15 and recording over 1,300 minutes of action. Though he didn’t score or assist, he was praised for his pace, strong defending, and ability to win fouls and penalties.

Besiktas, now managed by former Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, are rebuilding their squad after a disappointing season. Osayi-Samuel is their first big signing of the summer and will fill an important foreign-player slot in the team.
