Brown Ideye: Super Eagles cannot win 2023 AFCON
35-year old Nigerian striker, Brown Ideye says the Super Eagles cannot win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations title in Cote d’Ivoire. SportsRation reports.
Ideye believes that the national team lacks cohesion and stability under the management of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro.
Peseiro has been at the helm for two years but has faced criticism for the team’s inconsistent performances, struggling to secure victories both at home and away.

Al-Yarmourk of Kuwait striker, Brown Ideye, was a member of Nigeria’s AFCON winning team of 2013, and scored one of the goals in the 4-1 semi-final win over Mali.
As Nigeria targets a fourth title in Cote d’Ivoire, Ideye shared his views during a Twitter space discussion ahead of the 2023 edition kickoff this weekend.
“We have good players in camp, but we don’t have a team. We are still building a team because we don’t have a team that can win the AFCON,” Ideye remarked.
The 28-cap Nigerian International added “I don’t see this present Eagles winning this AFCON; it’s not possible. We are not ready; we don’t have what it takes.”
“They should all gather in the room of Ahmed Musa and discuss with him and Kenneth Omeruo. They need Musa and Omeruo to tell them how we conquered Africa in 2013.
