CAF Awards: Oshoala nominated for Women’s player of the year award. Gift Monday gets young player of the year nomination.

Asisat Oshoala could beat Pepertua Nwokocha’s record if she wins a fifth CAF Women’s player of the year award on 21st July 2022.

 

CAF today released a preliminary list of nominees for the 2021 CAF Womens Award with Asisat Oshoala topping the list of 30 nominees for the player of the year category.

Oshoala is the current holder of the award which was last held in 2019 .

 

Legendary Super Falcons star Perpetua Nwokocha is currently tied on four awards each with Asisat Oshoala who will set a new record if she is annouced winner on July 21.

 

The Fc Barcelona Fermini forward had a successful season despite being plagued with injuries  . Oshoala is ruled out of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament with a grade 2 MCL strain sustained in Nigeria’s 1-2 loss to South Africa .

 

Rivers Angels of Nigeria received nomination alongside Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Ghana’s S.Hasaacas, AS FAR of Morocco, Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea, Egypt’s Wadi Degla, and AS Mande of Mali for the Womens club of the year .

 

Bayelsa Queens players Gift Monday and Florence Sebastiane make the list for the Young player of the year award .

 

Super Falcons striker Gift Monday was also nominated for CAF Interclub Player of the Year alongside Rivers Angels star, Maryann Ezenagu .
