CAF Confederation Cup: Bendel Insurance FC face ASO Chlef, Rivers United drawn bye in preliminary round

Bendel Insurance FC of Benin will face Algerian club ASO Chlef in the preliminary round of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup while Rivers United FC are drawn bye.

Insurance were handed a tough path with North African opposition in both first and second round of this seasons CAF Confederation Cup.

In the preliminary round, Bendel Insurance will take on ASO Chlef of Algeria with the winner to face 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup winners RSB Berkane of Morocco for a place in the group stage.

A tough road for Monday Odigie’s men who reached booked a continental spot as winners of Nigeria’s Federation Cup.

Nigeria’s other CAF Confederation Cup representative this season Rivers United FC fall among twelve clubs drawn bye for the preliminary round.

The Pride of Rivers who reached the semi-final of this competition last season will begin their campaign in the second round.

As revealed in the CAF draws conducted at its headquaters in Cairo, Egypt, the winner of the preliminary round clash between Etoile Flante of Burkina Faso and Ziguinchor FC of Senegal will face Rivers United FC in the second round.

The preliminary round matches will take place in August.
