CAFCC: Plateau Utd, MFM FC, Akwa Utd all crash out as Enyimba survives

Three of Nigeria’s representative on the continent in the CAF Confederations Cup, Plateau Utd, MFM FC and Akwa Utd have all been eliminated from the second tier of CAF club competition while Enyimba Intl remains the only surviving club from Nigeria.

NPFL defending champions Plateau Utd lost 5-2 on aggregate to USM Algers after losing 4-0 in Algeria in the second leg on Tuesday.

MFM FC on Wednesday held Djoliba AC to a goalless draw in Mali but the result wasnt enough for the Olukoya boys after losing the first leg to the Malian side in Agege, 1-0 to lose out on the same score line aggregate.

Aiteo Cup champions Akwa Utd were looking at turning around a 2-0 deficit to Al Hilal of Sudan but could only muster a 3-1 win in Uyo in the second leg as the Promise Keepers lost on away goal rule after aggregate ended at 3-3.

Enyimba Intl remains the only Nigeria club in the competition after progressing on away goal rule having held Bidvest Wits of South Africa to a goalless draw in Calabra after the first leg had ended 1-1 in Johannesburg.

This outing means that Mozambique have replaced Nigeria in the ranking as nations that will provide 2 teams each in the 2019 CAFCL and CAFCC.
