CAFCC: Rivers United FC to face Academica do Lobito In Uyo on Nov. 26

Rivers United FC will begin it’s 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup group stage fixtures when they face Academica do Lobito in Uyo on November 26, 2023. SportsRation reports.

The Pride of Rivers will not be able to play the group stage at their natural home ground, the Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, instead will play in neighbouring state, Akwa Ibom.

Rivers United FC will use the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium as home-ground for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

A return to the venue that hosted its successful group stage run last season. Recall that Rivers United FC reached the last-8 of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup.

On matchday one of the 2023/2024 season, Rivers United FC will host Angolan club, Academica Petroleas do Lobito at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

That game will take place on November 26 with kickoff by 5pm [Nigerian time].

Coach Stanley Eguma’s men will be hoping to get off to a winning start in the group C clash.

As a result of their continental engagement, the Nigeria Premier Football League matchday ten clash between Rivers United FC and Plateau United FC on Saturday, November 25 will be rescheduled.

Rivers United FC will also face Tunisia’s Club Africain and Ghana’s Dreams FC in group C.

The top-two teams in the group after six matchday’s will qualify for the quater-final of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Rivers United FC are Nigeria’s remaining representative in the continent this season.

The 2021/2022 Nigerian champions will have to qualify to the quater-final to preserve Nigeria’s four spots for CAF Club competitions next season.
