Caldwell-Pope completes Pistons rally, Raptors edge Mavs

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s late jumper helped the rallying Detroit Pistons trump the Miami Heat 93-92 in the NBA on Tuesday.

Caldwell-Pope made a jumper with 55.5 seconds remaining to put the Pistons ahead as they overturned an 18-point deficit on the road in Miami.

The Heat had opportunities to hit the front late on but Dwyane Wade missed and Chris Bosh was unsuccessful on the buzzer.

Caldwell-Pope had 14 points alongside Stanley Johnson, while Pistons team-mate Reggie Jackson had 18.

The Heat were led by Bosh’s 20 points and Wade’s 19.

DeMar DeRozan inspired the Toronto Raptors to a 103-99 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

DeRozan posted 28 points in the home victory and he was supported by Bismack Biyombo (nine points, 20 rebounds) and Kyle Lowry (17 points, 10 rebounds).

Dirk Nowitzki was the pick of the Mavs players with 20 points as Dallas lost for the second time in three games.

Elsewhere, the lowly Philadelphia 76ers fell to an 11th consecutive defeat, beaten 104-90 by the Memphis Grizzlies.

Marc Gasol (19), Mike Conley (18) Courtney Lee (15), Zach Randolph (14) and Matt Barnes (12) all had double-digit points as the 76ers dropped to a 1-29 win-loss record.

The Los Angeles Lakers, meanwhile, prevailed 111-107 against the Denver Nuggets.
