Carlos Alcaraz reveals preference for Roger Federer over Rafael Nadal

Tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz has opened up about his on-court preference, expressing his admiration for Swiss legend Roger Federer over his fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Despite idolizing Nadal, Alcaraz disclosed his aspiration to emulate Federer’s style and elegance on the court.

The 20-year-old rising star, who recently claimed the 2023 Wimbledon title, spoke candidly about his admiration for Federer during an interview with Tennis Channel. “I always say that my idol is Rafa, but I want to say that I really want to play like Roger. You know, his style and elegance on the court is something amazing,” Alcaraz remarked.

Alcaraz’s revelation comes after his recent encounter with Nadal at the Netflix Slam exhibition match, where he emerged victorious in three sets, showcasing his growing prowess on the court.

Despite Nadal’s withdrawal from the ongoing BNP Paribas Open, Alcaraz remains a strong contender to reclaim the title he won last year. Following Novak Djokovic’s unexpected exit, Alcaraz is set to face Alexander Zverev in a highly anticipated quarter-final clash. The Spanish prodigy has displayed impressive form throughout the tournament, defeating top-ranked opponents on his path to the quarter-finals.

Reflecting on his recent victory over Fabian Marozsan, Alcaraz expressed his nerves before the match but emphasized his determination to succeed. “Playing against someone who beat you easily — I remember I had no chances in the match in Rome. It was difficult for me today to approach the match, but I’m really happy with the way that I did,” Alcaraz stated.

With a potential semi-final showdown against Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner looming, Alcaraz remains focused on his quest for success at Indian Wells, aiming to further solidify his status as one of tennis’s brightest prospects.
