Carlos Alcaraz talks Australian Open Preparation

After his win over Walton at the Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz offered a glimpse into what his preseason looks like away from the spotlight.

Asked what a typical day is like for him during the preseason, Alcaraz kept the answer simple.

“I just like to stay at home,” he said. “I practice the whole morning. Probably I start at 9 and finish at 2:30… sometimes at 3. The whole morning is about the workout. Physically and on the court as well.”

According to Alcaraz, the structure of his days is deliberate. Mornings are fully dedicated to training, while afternoons are reserved for rest and time away from tennis.

“The afternoon I took almost every afternoon off to do whatever I want,” he explained. “Just stay with the family, stay with some friends. Playing board games. Chilling at home.”

For the 20-year-old, that balance is important as he prepares for a long season at the highest level of the sport.

“For me there isn’t a better way to recharge the batteries than to stay at home with the people you love to spend time with,” Alcaraz said. “I did it.”

The approach appears to be paying off, as Alcaraz continues his Australian Open with momentum.
