CAS Fixes October 8 Hearing for AFCON 2025 Final Appeal
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has fixed October 8, 2026, as the hearing date for the appeal over the disputed outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.
The hearing will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, with the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) all expected to be involved.
The dispute followed CAF’s decision to award Morocco a 3-0 victory by forfeit after ruling that Senegal had forfeited the final.
Senegal has appealed the decision and is asking CAS to overturn CAF’s ruling and recognise the Teranga Lions as the rightful champions of the 2025 AFCON.
CAS said the hearing will be held behind closed doors. It also confirmed that no final decision is expected to be announced on the day of the hearing.
The sports arbitration body also warned the public against believing unverified reports circulating online, stressing that only information released through its official communication channels should be considered authentic.
The outcome of the case could finally bring an end to one of the biggest controversies in recent African football history.
