Cavaliers edge Pistons in overtime to take control of Series
The Cleveland Cavaliers survived a tough night in Detroit, beating the Detroit Pistons 117-113 in overtime to take a 3-2 lead in the series.
It was a back-and-forth battle all night, with 11 lead changes and neither team able to fully pull away. Detroit looked close to taking control late in the fourth quarter, but Cleveland finished strong and completely owned overtime.
James Harden led the Cavaliers with 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley both made huge plays late in the game.
After the win, Harden praised Detroit’s defense while already looking ahead to Game 6.
“Very, very, very crazy team defensively,” he said. “At the beginning of Game 6, we’ve got to make sure our mindset is right.”
For Detroit, Cade Cunningham finished with 39 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. He repeatedly kept the Pistons alive with big shots and calm play under pressure, but Cleveland’s late run proved too much in the end.
The Cavaliers closed the game on a 23-10 run and are now one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals.
