CHAN 2020 Exit: Imama Praise Team Effort Says They Lacked Bite In Final Third

Head Coach of the Super Eagles Team B, Imama Amapakabo has said that his team lacked the bite in the final third as they couldn’t convert their chances to seal qualification for the African Nations Championship, CHAN 2020.

A brace from Sikiri Alimi was not enough for Nigeria as they bowed to their Togolese counterpart.

Speaking at the post match press conference, Imama gave this thought about the inability of his boys to convert chances.

“We were just unable to convert our chances as anxiety set in. Goalscoring wasn’t an issue, we had all the highest goalscorers in last season’s NPFL in my team so it wasn’t a problem”, Imama said.

“We stuck with our tactics, my team pinned the Togolese but still we couldn’t get the third goal for qualification”

“All through the game, my team put on a fight”, Imama concluded.

Despite giving it a good and praiseworthy fight, the Super Eagles B were undone by heavy deficit from the first leg and failed to qualify for next year’s African Nations Championship finals after a 3-4 aggregate loss to Togo’s Sparrow Hawks.
