CHAN 2020 Ouster: NFF Apologise To Nigerians
The Nigeria Football Federation through its 1st Vice President, Barr. Seyi Akiwunmi has apologised to Nigerians for the ouster of the Home Based Super Eagles from the 2020 African Nations Championship, CHAN to be staged in Cameroon.
The Eagles defeated Togo 2-0 in Agege on Sunday but the result was not enough for the Imama Amapakabo led side to progress losing 4- 3 on aggregate.
Speaking to the media after the game, Barr. Akinwunmi said: “We’re sorry, we know many Nigerians are angry but we’ve come down before and we’ll be back again”
“We’re not going to apportion blames, we’re upset. All our coaches and players, we appreciate their effort in as much as it wasn’t enough”
Runners up from the last edition, Nigeria will play no part at the CHAN 2020 having failed to get past, Togo their last qualifying hurdle.
