Changes in Super Falcons excites NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation is excited over the positive changes in the results of World-cup bound Super Falcons.

Nigeria`s female national team the Super Falcons have taken three wins from their last three matches to clip a poor run of form that saw Nigerians calling for the sack of Head Coach Randy Waldrum with few months to the 2023 FIFA Womens World Cup.

Rising from its Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on Monday April 17, the NFF Board ” expressed satisfaction with the new positive spirit and winning mentality in the camp of the senior women national team, Super Falcons, which has seen the team win its last three international matches.

” With the bigger picture of the biggest-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup competition coming up in Australia and New Zealand this summer in mind, the Board admonished the technical crew to work even harder to give confidence to the players that that they can indeed stand their own against the worlds best.

On its part, the NFF board pledged to ” do even more to prepare for the big challenge with another grade A friendly match in Europe and a two-week camping in Australia before the kick-off of the tournament on 20 July.”

Nigeria`s Super Falcons were perfect in the recent International window with wins over fellow world-cup bound Haiti and New Zealand in Antalya Turkey.

Randy Waldrum tutored Falcons first pipped Haiti 2-1 in Antalya before defeating 2023 FIFA Womens World Cup co-hosts New Zealand 3-0 days later.

This when added to the 1-0 win over Costa Rica in February to end a 7-game winless run makes it three wins on the bounce for the Nigerian ladies.

At the 2023 FIFA Womens World Cup, the Super Falcons are drawn in group B alongside one of the co-hosts, Australia, Canada and Ireland. Nigeria will kick-start the tournament vs Canada on July 21, 2023 at the Melbourne Stadium.
