Chioma Onyekwere becomes first Nigerian to win Gold at the Commonwealth games
Chioma Onyekwere has put her name in the history books after winning a gold medal in discus event at the 2022 Commonwealth games in Birmingham.
The Nigerian athlete threw her season best of 61.70m to claim the first price and becoming the first ever Nigerian to claim Commonwealth games gold in women’s category.
She wasn’t the only Nigerian at the podium as she was joimed by Obiageri Amechi who clinched the bronze cor throwing 56.99m.
Nigeria’s medal hauls have increased to 8 in total.
