Chuba Akpom nets 23rd league goal of the season as Stoke hold Boro
Nigeria-eligible Chuba Akpom has scored his 23rd league goal of the season for Middlesbrough who were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke in a Championship game at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday.
Chuba Akpom who has been in great form this season just keeps getting better, and scoring goals for fun every week.
The former Arsenal player opened the scoring at the Riverside Stadium with a fine finish.
Boro struck midway through the first half as Aaron Ramsey broke forward and slipped through Riley McGree and he put it on a plate for Akpom to grab his 23rd of the season.
But the lead didn’t last for long as Wolves loanee Ki-Jana Hoever scored the equalizer for Stoke City with a close-range strike.
Both teams went in search of the winner, but the game ended 1-1 as third-placed Boro missed the chance to go within a point of the Sky Bet Championship automatic promotion places.
So far this season 27-year-old Chuba Akpom has scored 23 league goals in 30 league games for Premier League chasing Boro.
