Chukwueze powers Villarreal past Getafe to end 4-game losing streak
The Nigerian winger scored and assisted as Villarreal beat Getafe 2-1
Samuel Chukwueze scored and assisted another to help Villarreal secure a 2-1 comeback win against Getafe at the Estadio de la Ceramica in a La Liga game on Monday.
The Nigerian winger was involved in both games as the Yellow Submarines ended their 4-game losing streak.
Villarreal welcomed Getafe to the Estadio de la Ceramica on the bounce of four straight defeats to Rayo Vallecano, Elche, Barcelona, and Mallorca.
It felt like it was going to end in defeat for Villarreal after former Turkey wonder-kid Enes Unal gave Getafe the lead in the 9th minute.
Samuel Chukwueze who scored last week got Villarreal back on level terms with just one minute left in the first 45 minutes.
It was his second back-to-back La Liga career goal.
The Nigerian winger was again involved in the second half as 34-year-old Spanish striker José Luis Morales scored the deciding goal off Samuel Chukweuze’s assist in the 52nd minute.
It was just the second time in Samuel Chukwueze’s career. The first time he scored and assisted a goal in a single match was first in April 2019 against FC Barcelona.
Samuel Chukuweze has scored a total of 10 goals this season, 4 in the Copa Del Rey, 3 in La Liga, 2 in the Europa Conference League plus one in the Europa Champions League qualifiers.
