Manchester City centre back, Eric Garcia has agreed a deal in principle to join Spanish giants, Barcelona at the expiry of his contract with Manchester City at the conclusion of the 2020/21 season. However, the 19 year old Spanish international has agreed to join his boyhood club as they look to revamp their defence with Gerard Pique past his peak.
The Spaniard joined Manchester City in 2017 after he spent 9 years at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, where he played alongside another current Barcelona youngster, Ansu Fati. Garcia made his Manchester City debut in the EFL Cup Quarter final against Leicester City in December 2018. After the resumption of football following the COVID-19 break, he became a regular with City and in spite of this, he decided on rejecting a contract renewal in August 2020.
Garcia decided that he was going to join Barcelona as a free agent in the summer, but if Barça intend to fast track the transfer and complete the switch this winter, they would need to negotiate a fee with Manchester City.
