Confirmed: Manchester United will not play in the Champions League next season

After what has been a sub-standard season, Manchester United will miss out of the Premier League top-four and so not play in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

This was mathematically confirmed after Saturday’s fixtures in the English Premier League coupked with the Red Devils failure to win at home.

Manchester United threw away a one-goal lead at Old Trafford to draw 1-1 with relegation-threatened Burnley.

Later that evening, fourth placed Aston Villa were also held to a 2-2 draw at home by Chelsea.

These two results mean that even if United win all their four games left, they will only amass 66 points.

Villa, who occupy fourth spot, already have 67 points and have three matches left.

Tottenham are fifth on 60 points and have four games remaining. TSpurs themselves have a mountain to climb, following a 2-3 loss to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
