Arsenal keep Premier League title hopes alive with win against Tottenham

Arsenal clinched a crucial 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, maintaining their lead at the top of the Premier League with three games to the end of the season.

The game’s first 45 minutes were electrifying as Arsenal surged ahead with a three-goal lead. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s own goal, followed by strikes from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, set the stage for Arsenal’s dominance.

Although Tottenham mounted a spirited comeback, with Cristian Romero and Heung-min Son finding the net, Arsenal held on for a historic win.

This victory not only marked their second consecutive win at their rival’s home ground for the first time since 1988 but also marked Mikel Arteta’s 100th Premier League win as manager.

Despite concerns about fatigue due to their recent busy schedule compared to Spurs’ extended break, Arsenal’s energetic performance in the first half dispelled any doubts.

Hojbjerg’s unfortunate own goal handed Arsenal the much-desired lead.

The visitors continued their onslaught, with Saka and Havertz adding two more goals before halftime, capitalizing on defensive lapses from the hosts to lead 0-3.

Despite Tottenham’s efforts to claw back into the game in the second half, Arsenal’s defense held firm. However, a mistake from Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya allowed Romero to reduce the deficit.

With Tottenham gaining momentum, Son converted a penalty to set up a tense finale, but Arsenal managed to withstand the pressure and secure the vital victory.

Looking ahead, Arsenal will face Bournemouth at home before a crucial clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford, followed by their final game of the season against Everton. These upcoming fixtures will be crucial as Arsenal seeks to maintain their position at the top of the table and clinch their first Premier League title in two decades.
