Confirmed: Osimhen ruled out of AC Milan Champions League clash
Super Eagles striker yet to return to full fitness ahead of Champions League clash
Napoli have been dealt a huge blow as news filtered through the club that topscorer Victor Osimhen will not be part of the squad to take on AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals first leg. The lanky striker is still ruled out after picking up an injury on international duty with Nigeria.
It is no secret that Napoli have struggled since Osimhen returned injured from the international break. Manager Luciano Spalletti was said to have been hopeful of the striker recovering in time for the match against AC Milan after seeing his team get walloped 4-0 by the same side only less than two weeks ago.
According to Napoli’s president, the striker is expected to make his return in time for the second leg at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on April 18th.
“Victor is not in the conditions to play, unfortunately — so we hope to have him back for return fixture at the Maradona on April 18”, says De Laurentiis.
Napoli will hope for an improved performance in what is their first-ever appearance at this stage of the competition following unconvincing displays since the international break. The club will hope not to miss Osimhen too much as he works his way back to fitness.
