Conte Never Spoke To Me At Chelsea, Mikel Reveals

Super Eagles and former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi has revealed that his former coach at Chelsea, Antonio Conte never spoke to him at the club.

Mikel who was representing Nigeria at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games while his teammates at Chelsea were having their pre season said the Conte never said words to him due to representing Nigeria at the Rio games instead of fighting for his place at Chelsea.

“I spoke to Victor Moses cos he is younger to stay back while I went to the Olympic games in Rio”.

“When I resume after the Olympic, the manager never spoke to me and I said if that’s what you want, It’s fine and I left”, Mikel said in an interview with the NFF ahead of the AFCON.

Mikel would go on to lead the Dream Team to a bronze medal finish at the Olympics, the country’s only medal.

Nigeria are presently preparing for the 2019 AFCON with a camp site in Ismailia, Egypt.
