Crown FC Boss Unhappy with Referee After Loss at NNL Super Eight in Asaba
The Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight Promotion Play-Offs continued at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium in Asaba, and one club manager is not pleased with the officiating.
Olumide Olupeju, General Manager of Crown FC, said he was unhappy with the way the referee handled his team’s match against Kun Khalifat FC, which ended 1-0 in favour of Kun Khalifat.
Speaking in a post-match interview with Radio Nigeria Asaba, Olupeju criticised the penalty that gave Kun Khalifat their winning goal, calling it controversial. He said he would take the matter up with the NNL leadership.
“I’m disappointed, especially after we were promised fair officiating by the NNL chairman, George Aluo, during the match draws,” Olupeju said.
He also urged referees and match officials to be fair in the remaining games, saying poor decisions can affect the morale of players and the spirit of competition.
Despite the defeat, Olupeju said he still believes in his team, and is confident that Crown FC can still secure a promotion ticket to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
