Cucurella Says Madueke’s Move to Arsenal Was “Strange”

Marc Cucurella has admitted he found Noni Madueke’s move from Chelsea to Arsenal a bit unusual – especially the timing of it.
The £52 million transfer happened earlier this month, just as Chelsea were finishing their successful run in the FIFA Club World Cup.
What Cucurella Said
When asked by journalist Gerard Moreno if he thought the move was strange, Cucurella replied:
“Yes, I think so. He wasn’t starting, but I still think he missed a good opportunity.”
Cucurella added that Madueke’s decision to leave early – possibly just one day before the Club World Cup ended – didn’t really make sense:
“He could’ve waited. It wouldn’t have cost him anything to stay one more day.”
Madueke’s Future at Arsenal
Madueke, who previously played for PSV Eindhoven, has signed a five-year contract with Arsenal, keeping him at the club until 2030. The move is seen as a new start for the 22-year-old winger.
Although he’s now an Arsenal player, he hasn’t joined the squad on their current pre-season tour of Asia.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal seem happy with how the transfer turned out.
