Stephen Curry cleared of serious ankle injury

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors can breathe easily after an MRI revealed there was no significant damage to his right ankle.

The point guard had the MRI on Tuesday, having missed his side’s 115-106 win over the Houston Rockets that gave them a 2-0 series lead in the NBA play-offs.

A Warriors statement read: “Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who tweaked his right ankle during Saturday’s Game 1 versus Houston and missed last night’s Game 2 against the Rockets, underwent an MRI this afternoon in the Bay Area.

“The MRI did not reveal anything of concern and Curry is expected to continue treatment in preparation for Thursday’s Game 3 in Houston.

“He is listed as questionable.”

Even though no damaged was revealed, Curry may yet miss the third game of the series.

“It’s the back of his foot,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after Curry missed game two.

“It’s underneath the ankle. It’s something down there.”
