Curry named Western Conference Finals MVP as Warriors defeat Mavericks
Steph Curry added another feather to his cap as he claimed the first-ever Western Conference Finals MVP trophy after inspiring the Golden State Warriors to a 4-1 series win over the Dallas Mavericks.
Having won the first three games of the series before losing Game 4 in Dallas, the Warriors had the chance to seal the series in front of their own fans at the Chase Center and they did so with a 120-110 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
The Golden State Warriors flew out of the blocks in the first quarter, racing to a 28-23 lead. They continued their dominance in the second quarter and ended the first half with a 69-52 lead, leaving their opponents with a huge deficit to try and reduce.
The Mavericks showed some fight in the third and fourth quarters, but it was not enough to secure a comeback against the Warriors, who closed out the match with a 120-110 result.
The Golden State Warriors had six players recording double-figure points in the game, with Klay Thompson leading all scorers with 32 points. Andrew Wiggins scored 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Kevon Looney scored 10 points and 18 rebounds. Curry contributed 15 points as Draymond Green and Jordan Poole scored 17 and 16 points, respectively.
For the Mavericks, Luka Doncic led the scoring with 28 points and Spencer Dinwiddie added 26 points in the game.
The trio of Curry, Thompson and Green are through to their sixth NBA Finals together, where they will await one of the Boston Celtics or Miami Heat for the NBA Championship.
