Odion Ighalo and his Al Hilal teammates will by 5:30pm (Nigerian time) today (Sunday) take on Al Jazira in today’s FIFA Club world Cup quarter final match.
On Saturday evening, CAF representatives Al Ahly defeated Monterrey 1-0 to set up a semi final vs Brazilian side Palmeiras. The Brazilian side like UEFA champions league winners Chelsea were ceded to enter the tournament from the Semi Final stage.
Today’s Quarter final will pitch Odion Ighalo and his new teammates against an Al Jazira team enjoying home support and boasting in confidence after their opening day 4-1 victory over OFC representatives Pirae.
Al Hilal managed by former Monaco gaffer, Leonardo Jardim are bookmakers favourites to progress. With yesterday’s favourites Monterrey falling to a depleted Al Ahly , Al Hilal must be at their best against a goal friendly Al Jazira side who put four past Pirae in the previous round.
Nigerian Forward Odion Ighalo who enjoyed a goalscoring debut for the Asian champions will likely partner Moussa Marega in attack. Former West Brom star is fit and should be the teams creative bank for this crucial encounter.
The match will take place at the Mohammed Bin Zayed stadium in UAE with Kickoff fixed for 5:30pm (Nigerian Time).
