Cyriel Dessers late strike not enough to save Cremonese from home defeat

Cyril Dessers scored a goal in the 83rd minute for Cremonese as they fell to a 2-3 home loss to Monza in the Italian Serie A on Saturday.

Cremonese manager Massimiliano Alvini kept faith in Cyriel Dessers and David Okerekke in attack as they looked for points to turn their season around.

It was the visitors who took the lead in the 8th minute when Petagna setup Ciurra to fire Monza in front.

Things will get even worse for Cremonese in the 18th minute as Monza were awarded a penalty after a foul on Armando Izzo’s inside the box.

Gianluca Caprari stepped up to convert for the first of his two goals in the game. His second and Monza’s third goal arrived in the 55th minute.

With scores at 0-3 it looked like game over until Ciofani pulled one back for Cremonese in the 67th minute.

Cremonese then piled pressure for more and that pressure will payoff as Cyriel Dessers finished off a loose ball in the penalty area for 2-3.

The Cremona based outfit will press forward for a third goal to no avail as Monza held on for the maximum points.

Without a win in the Serie A this season, Cremonese remain bottom of the log with reports linking the club with moves for a managerial change.

On loan from Genk, Cyriel Dessers and his Cremonese teammates will next take on Victor Osimhen’s Napoli in a Coppa Italia clash on January 17.
