Cyriel Dessers Reaches Milestone in Old Firm Derby Draw
Super Eagles and Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers hit a personal milestone in the famous Old Firm derby at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The 30-year-old Nigerian has often been criticised for inconsistency since joining Rangers in 2023, but he continues to prove his critics wrong. He has now recorded 30 goal contributions in back-to-back seasons for the Scottish side.
In his first season, Dessers scored 22 goals and made 7 assists in 54 matches. This season, he has already scored 25 goals and provided 6 assists.
Dessers opened the scoring for Rangers in the 44th minute, finishing calmly with his left foot after receiving a pass from Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomande.
Celtic equalised in the 57th minute through Irish striker Adam Idah, who took advantage of poor defending to grab his 19th goal of the campaign.
The 1-1 draw was only for pride, as Celtic have already secured the league title, while Rangers remain in second place, 17 points behind their rivals with three games left.
Despite missing out on the title, Dessers is enjoying his best-ever season in front of goal.
