Cyriel Dessers Receives High Praise After Stellar Performance in UEFA Europa League
Former Turkish forward Nihat Kahveci has heaped praise on Rangers and Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers following his outstanding performance in the UEFA Europa League.
Dessers, 30, has been in great form this season, scoring 22 goals and providing 7 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Rangers. In their recent 3-1 victory over Fenerbahce, Dessers opened the scoring with a brilliant goal and also assisted the second goal. Although he could have had a hat-trick, two of his goals were ruled out for offside by the narrowest of margins.
Nihat Kahveci, who previously played for Beşiktaş, was particularly impressed with Dessers’ performance. Speaking after the match, he said, “I still can’t believe what we watched. It should have been 5-1, and if Cyriel Dessers’ shoulder weren’t as muscly, it would have been. Every top club in Turkey should be fighting to sign him.”
Kahveci’s praise didn’t stop there, adding that Dessers’ performance had proven he’s a player worth chasing for top clubs. “There were plenty of others, but Dessers really stood out.”
Dessers’ goal against Fenerbahce was a clever piece of play as he skillfully went around Fenerbahce goalkeeper Irfan Egribayat to score. His all-round play was crucial in helping Rangers secure the vital win in Turkey.
As Rangers head into the second leg at Ibrox with a strong lead, Dessers’ performance has undoubtedly caught the attention of fans and pundits alike. With a week’s break before their next domestic match, Rangers will be eager to build on this impressive result.
