Cyriel Dessers set for £5m move to AEK Athens

Glasgow Rangers and Nigeria National team striker Cyriel Dessers is close to joining Greek champions AEK Athens, SportsRation reports.

According to Record Sport, the 13-time Greek Super League winners have offered Dessers a contract worth £30,000 per week.

AEK tried to sign the Nigerian international in January but could not match Rangers’ asking price at the time.

Now, with fresh funds from new owner Marios Iliopoulos, a shipping magnate, the club is ready to seal the deal.

Marko Nikolic’s side are prepared to pay £5 million for the 30-year-old.

Dessers joined Rangers from Italian side Cremonese two years ago for £4.5 million.

He finished as the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer last season, netting 18 league goals, and scored 11 more in European and domestic cup matches
