Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics have been honoured as the NBA Players of the Month for February 2024.

Doncic, representing the Western Conference, showcased his exceptional skills by leading the Mavericks to an impressive 8-3 record throughout February. Averaging 33.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 10.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, Doncic’s stellar performances included eight games with 30 or more points, three games with 40 or more points, and two triple-doubles. Currently, the Mavericks hold the eighth position in the competitive Western Conference standings.

Meanwhile, Jaysun Tatum, representing the Eastern Conference, played a key role in guiding the Celtics to a remarkable nine-game winning streak after starting the month with a single loss. Tatum’s contributions were notable, with an average of 27.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game in February. His standout performances included a 41-point game against the Nets and a near triple-double against the Wizards. As a result of his efforts, the Celtics are currently leading the Eastern Conference and the entire NBA.

Rookies of the Month: Victor Wembanyama and Brandon Miller Shine

In the rookie category, French basketballer Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs and Brandon Miller of the Charlotte Hornets have been recognized for their outstanding performances in February.

Wembanyama, representing the Western Conference, continued his impressive form from January, maintaining averages of 21.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.9 blocks per game in 12 appearances for the Spurs. Notably, he leads both rookies and the entire NBA in blocked shots per game.

In the Eastern Conference, Brandon Miller’s star continued to rise as he contributed significantly to the Charlotte Hornets’ performances. Miller posted impressive numbers, including 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in 13 appearances during February. His consistent improvement has been evident, with his scoring average increasing over the last four months.

Coaches of the Month: Steve Kerr and Erik Spoelstra Lead the Way

The coaching accolades for February went to Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors and Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat.

Kerr guided the Warriors to an exceptional 11-3 record in February, the best in the Western Conference. Despite currently occupying the ninth position in the standings, the Warriors have showcased their potential under Kerr’s leadership.

On the other hand, Spoelstra steered the Miami Heat to an impressive 8-3 record, including a remarkable 6-1 performance on the road. With the second-best defensive rating in the league for the month, Spoelstra’s coaching prowess has been instrumental in the Heat’s success.
