Daniel Daga scores his first Norwegian league goal in Molde’s win over Valarenga
Daniel Daga scored his first goal in Norway’s top league, the Eliteserien, on Sunday. He helped his team, Molde, win 3-2 against Vålerenga in a very exciting match at the Intility Arena.
Daga, who is 18 years old and seen as a big future star for Nigeria, joined Molde from FC One Rocket in January.
Molde’s coach, Per-Mathias Høgmo, made a smart move by bringing Daga on as a substitute in the 76th minute. Daga came on for Martin Hestad and quickly made a difference with his energy and strong play in midfield.
Soon after coming on, Daga tested Vålerenga’s goalkeeper, Jacob Storevik, with a powerful shot. Just a few minutes later, he scored his first Eliteserien goal after a clever pass from Molde captain Magnus Wolff Eikrem. Daga’s goal made the score 2-2 with ten minutes left, giving Molde new hope.
This was Daga’s second goal for Molde. He scored his first for the club in the Norwegian Cup back in April, when Molde beat Elnesvågen & Omegn IL 7–0. He also provided an assist in that match.
So far, Daga has played 101 minutes in the Eliteserien. After Sunday’s strong showing, he will likely get more chances to play as the season continues.
