Daniel Sosah accuses Ghana Football Association demanding bribe before national team selection
Niger Republic international striker Daniel Sosah, born in Ghana, has accused the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of asking him for a bribe before considering him for the national U23 team in 2020.
In an interview with Accra-based Original FM, Sosah revealed that despite his strong desire to represent Ghana, he was forced to turn to Niger after a disappointing experience with the GFA.
Sosah’s Statement
“I had scored about 40 goals in Guinea at the time and received offers to represent Guinea, but I turned them down because I truly wanted to represent my country,” Sosah said.
He added, “My agents contacted the Ghana FA, and after speaking with someone in Twi, they asked for money before allowing me to play for the U23 team.”
Turning Point
Frustrated by this experience, Sosah decided to represent Niger, where he has since become a key player. He played a crucial role in Niger’s 2-1 victory over Ghana in a 2025 AFCON qualifier held in Accra.
Similar Allegations Against the GFA
Sosah’s claims add to growing accusations of misconduct within the GFA. Najeeb Yakubu, another Niger player with Ghanaian roots, previously alleged that he was excluded from the Black Stars squad for refusing to join Dreams FC, a club owned by GFA President Kurt Okraku.
