David Ankeye completes move to Serie A side Genoa from Sheriff Tiraspol
Nigerian forward David Ankeye has officially joined Serie A club Genoa from Moldovan Super Liga side Sheriff Tiraspol. SportsRation reports.
Genoa confirmed the signing on their official channels, and reports suggest that the Italian club paid around €3 million for Ankeye’s services.
Born in Port Harcourt, the 21-year-old caught the attention of Genoa with his impressive performances in European club competitions.
Ankeye made ten appearances and scored three goals in the Europa League, in addition to featuring in the Champions League qualifiers.
In the Moldovan Super Liga this season, the former Hammarby star scored five goals in 13 league matches for Sheriff Tiraspol.
Despite interest from several other clubs, Genoa secured Ankeye’s signature on a three-and-a-half-year contract, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.
David Ankeye will wear the No. 30 shirt at Genoa as he makes the transition from Moldova to one of Europe’s top football leagues.
