David de Gea to miss Manchester United and FC Midtjylland tie

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that goalkeeper David de Gea will miss Thursday’s Europa League tie against FC Midtjylland at Old Trafford.

The Spain international has missed the last two games after picking up a knee injury during the warm-up of last week’s 2-1 defeat to the Danish side in the first leg of their last-32 clash.

On Monday, Van Gaal described De Gea’s injury as “not so heavy”, but he has not been declared fit enough to feature in tomorrow’s decider.

Sergio Romero is likely to keep his spot in between the sticks.
