Dazzling Doku Leads Manchester City to 3–0 Victory Over Liverpool

Jeremy Doku stole the spotlight as Manchester City eased past Liverpool with a 3–0 win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.

The result came on Pep Guardiola’s 1000th match as a manager and restored City’s lead in the Premier League table after Arsenal had dropped points the previous night.

City started brightly, with Doku causing constant problems for Liverpool’s defence down the left wing. The visitors struggled to contain the Belgian’s pace and skill, and the pressure soon paid off.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 29th minute, rising above the defence to head home a fine cross from Matheus Nunes. Liverpool thought they had levelled when Virgil van Dijk found the net with a header, but VAR ruled it out for offside.

Just before half-time, City doubled their advantage as Nico González’s low strike was deflected into the net by Van Dijk.

Doku sealed the win midway through the second half, cutting inside before curling a superb finish beyond goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to make it 3–0.

It was a complete performance from Guardiola’s side, with Doku’s dazzling display earning him the loudest cheers of the night. City’s victory sends a clear message to their title rivals as they continue their strong start to the season.
