Dembele Gets Huge Cheers at French Open as He Shows Off PSG’s Champions League Trophy

Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele received a loud and joyful welcome at Roland Garros, like a tennis champion, as he proudly showed off PSG’s newly-won Champions League trophy.

PSG made history on Saturday by beating Inter Milan 5–0 in the final – the biggest win ever in a Champions League final. It was the club’s first time winning the title, often called their “holy grail.”

The team returned to Paris on Sunday and was greeted like heroes, although celebrations in the city turned chaotic during the night.

On Monday, the celebrations continued as Dembele – named Champions League Player of the Season – carried the trophy onto the famous Court Philippe Chatrier in front of over 10,000 fans at the French Open.

Wearing a white T-shirt with the word “triumph” on it, Dembele received loud cheers from the crowd. PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi was watching from the stands.

The moment was perfectly timed – just before French wildcard Lois Boisson shocked the crowd by beating American Jessica Pegula, the third seed, in a big upset.

Dembele lifted the trophy and shouted, “This is Paris!” as the normally quiet tennis crowd roared with applause.

Speaking after, Dembele said:
“It was a magical moment in Munich. We had an amazing season and finally won our first European Cup. The personal awards are nice, but team trophies are what matter most. We’ll keep trying to win more.”

PSG are now only the second French team ever to win the Champions League, after Marseille did it in 1993.
