Diouf: Okocha is the most talented African not me; Eto’o or Drogba

Ex-Senegal international and former Liverpool forward El-Hadji Diouf has picked Nigeria’s Austin Okocha as the most talented African ever.

The former RC Lens forward made this statement while clarifying the statement attributed to him on being the most talented and best African player ever.

The statement which has generated massive debated and has made Samuel Eto’o declared himself the greatest African ever.

El-Hadji Diouf stressed that the duo of Samuel Eto and Didier Drogba are the best African players in the last decade but Austin Okocha is the most talented African he has ever watched.

“When I said that I am the most talented I did not say that I was the best. I spoke French. The most talented does not mean the best,” Diouf told RSI, as per Press-Sport.

“The two best African players of this decade are Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba but on the other hand the most talented one cannot say that it is Diouf, It is impossible.”

Having played against Austin Okocha and also together at Bolton, Diouf says no one came close to the Nigerian in terms of skill just that the former PSG star never won African player of the year award.

“The most talented African football since I was born is Okocha. He’s the most talented player I’ve ever seen, but he didn’t win a trophy, he didn’t win a gold ball.”
