Done deal: Victor Mbaoma joins Rwandan champions APR FC

Goal king ends Katsina United spell abruptly following huge offer

Nigerian striker Victor Mbaoma has completed his transfer to Rwandan side APR FC, leaving Katsina United after a very short stint at the club.

Mbaoma, who joined Katsina United ahead of the NNL Playoffs, scored all of the Chanji Boys’ goals as they finished second in the Northern Conference to secure a return to the NPFL. The former Remo Stars and Enyimba striker netted four goals in three appearances for Katsina United in the playoffs.

The 26-year-old striker joins CAF Champions League-bound Armee Patriotique Rwandaise FC on a two-year deal for a salary of around #2.7m monthly. APR are the current league champions and the most successful club team in Rwandan football.

Mbaoma topped the scoring charts for Enyimba in NPFL22 before moving to USM Alger, but things did not work out well for the lanky striker in North Africa and he embarked on a brief sojourn to Uzbekistan before finally returning to Katsina United. He was linked with a host of big teams in Nigeria before he decided to switch to Rwanda.

With 51 goals to his name in his NPFL career, Victor Mbaoma may end up facing one of his former sides, Enyimba or Remo Stars, in the CAF Champions League next season.
