Draxler beats Sanchez to player of the tournament award
PSG attacker Julian Draxler has beaten want-away Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez to the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup golden ball award.
Julian Draxler who was the captain of the young German squad to the just concluded tournament in Russia won the most coveted award of the event.
Although, Julian Draxler scored just a goal throughout the tournament his contribution and leadership helped the young Germans secure the title.
The 23-year-old attacker became the youngest player to captain Germany at a tournament since 1912.
Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo won the Golden Glove having kept a clean sheet, saved three penalties in the semi-final against Portugal and conceded just three goals in three games played.
Germany trio of Timo Werner, Leon Goretzka and Lars Stindl all scored three goals but Timo Werner who was directly involved in more goals (5) than any other player at the 2017 Confederations Cup won the Golden Boot.
