Drew Spence Makes WSL History with Record-Breaking 217th Appearance

Drew Spence has written her name into Women’s Super League history after becoming the competition’s all-time appearance leader with her 217th outing.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder moved clear of former Chelsea defender Millie Bright, who previously held the record with 216 appearances. Spence had drawn level with Bright in the previous weekend’s north London derby before finally moving ahead.

It is a significant achievement for a player whose career has been built on consistency and longevity. Having featured for both Chelsea and Tottenham, Spence has been part of the WSL for several years and has continued to make herself an important figure wherever she has played.

Reaching 217 appearances is no small feat in a competition that has become increasingly demanding. It takes more than talent to remain at the highest level for so long, and Spence’s record reflects the commitment she has shown throughout her career.

Bright now sits second on the list with 216 appearances, followed by Nikita Parris on 213. Jordan Nobbs has made 210 appearances, while Bethany England and Gemma Bonner complete the top six with 208 and 207 respectively.

For Spence, this is a milestone worth celebrating. She has now set a new standard in the WSL, and with more games still to come, her record could become even more difficult to catch.
