Drogba, Eto’o, Adebayor to storm Nigeria for charity match

Nigeria will welcome iconic football figures like Emmanuel Adebayor, Samuel Eto’o, and Didier Drogba for a charity match set to take place in Abuja.

Organized by the Attom Foundation, the Charity Champions’ Cup match will bring together retired football stars along with current players to raise funds for charitable causes in Nigeria.

Scheduled for June 15, 2024, at the Moshood Kashimawo Abiola (MKO) National Stadium, the event aims to benefit the visually impaired community, marking the foundation’s inaugural initiative in support of the underprivileged.

Yahaya Attom, the founder of the Attom Foundation, expressed his commitment to fulfilling societal responsibilities by aiding those in need. Actor and comedian Stanley Chibuna, popularly known as Funny Bone, emphasised the choice of football as a driving force behind the charitable endeavor, citing its universal appeal and ability to unite people for a noble cause.

Joining the lineup of football luminaries are retired legends Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu, alongside current Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Kenneth Omeruo. The presence of former Super Falcons players Asisat Oshoala and Michelle Alozie adds to the star-studded roster.

Notable personalities from various sectors, including music, entertainment, and sports, are also expected to grace the occasion. Singer Tiwa Savage, comedian Ayo Makun, and entertainers Akpororo and Nedu Ani will inject further excitement into the charity match.
